Film Reel

Why hello! Now, as I'm preparing to become a Film student again, and I just bloody love cinema, I thought it was about time I painted a design that represents just that. Oh, and seeing as Film and nails are two of the things that I blog about, it's actually the perfect design for combining the two! Oh, I feel clever now. Right, enough rambling, I'll tell you how I did it. First, paint your white base (I used OPI in 'Alpine Snow'). Then, on your last three fingers, carefully paint a gold film reel shape (my design features Avon Nailwear in 'Mod Gold'). Do a few coats of these, then wait to dry. Then, on the blank first finger, you need to draw a camera; use a black Nail pen to draw a rectangle, then a tiny triangle shape on the side. Next, draw three lines beneath and finally, two dots across the top with vertical lines connecting to the rectangle. Sorry, that part takes ages! After that, outline the gold film reel in black, then paint about  three vertical black stripes over the gold. Lastly, use a white Nail pen to draw a few tiny lines along the black outline, just to make it all stand out. Finished! Thanks for reading, have fun trying this one out :)

French Manicure (with a difference)

Bonjour, tout le monde! Forgive the introduction a la francais, but it's highly appropriate considering today's design. Oui oui, I'll be showing you how to do the classic French manicure - but of course, as it's me, it has to be a bit different and a bit weird. But weird is good, right? Anyway, let's get painting; first, choose a nice base colour for your nails - this particular design features Avon Nailwear in 'Savage'. Use a couple of coats and allow to dry. Then, using that steady hand, very carefully paint a pink 'smile' line along the top of your nail (yes, you guessed it - I used Avon Nailwear in 'Viva Pink'). If it's a bit wobbly, don't worry - this will get better with practice! About 2 coats should be enough. It's also inevitable that you'll get pink varnish on your fingers; just dip a cotton bud or small make up brush in nail varnish remover to carefully remove any excess varnish. Done that? Great, now your quirky French manicure should be looking good to go!
